A winning combination of practicality and beauty - the practical side being the numerous, well-researched tips, and the beauty of it the gorgeous photos all throughout. It is well-written and answers every question one could think of as a beginner. If I were to "start packing" (and the author is quite encouraging), I'd throw this little guide in my bag.
This is a wonderful and exciting guide to the French Riviera. I couldn't put it down last night! Mary Kay gives focused insider's information about a few special locales, so nothing feels overwhelming or daunting. Her prose is fun and personal, so the book reads like a letter from a trusted friend. As a result, my daughter and I are both inspired to explore the area around Nice, and as advised, I'm applying for a credit card to start accruing miles right away. I'm especially eager to try some of the stunning hikes and restaurants suggested in the book.

If you are even thinking about visiting the French Riviera, you need this book!! It has absolutely everything you need to feel like a pro on your trip. The author has been to many towns in the south of France (many times) but focuses on the two that she finds the most sojourn friendly - Nice, and Villefranche-sur-Mer. The book includes recommendations for lodging, restaurants, and there’s even a wonderful choice of 3 different itineraries she has put together that all look superb. She gives tips for safety, and places to avoid as well. There is also a really useful Q&A in the back which answers lots of worthwhile questions. Seriously, if you are going to the French Riviera, get this!

This book is absolutely loaded with all the information you need to have a wonderful trip to the south of France. Mary Kay has thought of EVERYTHING from A to Z. This is a fun to read, easy to understand book. The photos are beautiful and it is written in a way that you feel you are getting advice from a trusted best friend. I know her advice is excellent, she has guided me on trips there several times and I had an amazing time!
After being warned by others of the exclusivity and elitism many encounter during travel to the French Riviera, Mary Kay's book is not just a breath, but a lungful of fresh air. The day-to-day advice and positive attitude about truly affordable locations has encouraged us to plan our trip to Provence a few years hence. In addition, the personalized nature of her experience is the equivalent of inviting her in for coffee as our own personal travel coach.
